PM Shehbaz welcomes international firms’ participation in PSL franchise auction

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed the participation of international companies in the auction of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, saying the development would help promote foreign investment in the country.

The prime minister said overseas Pakistanis were playing a vital role in national development and their involvement in major ventures like the PSL reflected growing confidence in Pakistan’s economy and sports industry.

He was speaking during a meeting with representatives of the two successful bidders for the new PSL teams. Hamza Majeed of OZ Developers and Fawad Sarwar of Southeast Asian holding company FKS attended the meeting.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the representatives of the Sialkot and Hyderabad franchises and extended his best wishes for their future participation in the league.

He also commended Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi and his team for conducting a successful and transparent auction process.

“The entire auction process for the new PSL teams was broadcast live on television, which reflects transparency,” the prime minister said, adding that the inclusion of new teams would bring fresh energy to the league.

He noted that the active participation of both national and international firms in the bidding process demonstrated the PSL’s rising popularity at the global level.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar were also present at the meeting.
