PTI leader Shibli Faraz hospitalised with severe chest pain in Peshawar

Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, experienced severe chest pain, prompting an emergency medical response late at night.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Shibli Faraz was immediately shifted to the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) for urgent treatment.

Following the initial medical evaluation, doctors decided to keep Shibli Faraz under 24-hour continuous monitoring.

According to hospital sources, the opposition leader was suffering from heart-related discomfort, which required swift medical attention.

The medical team conducted preliminary treatment upon his arrival and has now formed a plan for his further management.

A specialist panel of doctors is scheduled to meet today to discuss the next steps in Shibli Faraz’s treatment and recovery process.

The condition of the senior political leader remains under close observation, and further updates will be shared as new information emerges.

Shibli Faraz previously served as the Minister of Science and Technology in 2021 and 2022. He has been a member of the Senate of Pakistan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2015.

Previously, Shibli had served as the Leader of the House for the Senate of Pakistan from 26 August 2018 until 4 June 2020. He is a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and is the party’s head in the Senate of Pakistan.

He was born in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and is the son of the late Urdu poet Ahmad Faraz. His uncle, Barrister Masood Kausar, had served as the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His family is of Hindko-speaking Pashtun background.

He completed his matriculation and intermediate from Cadet College Kohat. Later, he graduated from Edwardes College, Peshawar, earned his LLB from the Law College, Peshawar, and completed his MA in International Relations at the University de Los Andes, Colombia, in 1994, while he has also been a Fellow in Finance & International Banking at the Chartered Banker Institute, London.

Additionally, he holds a commercial pilot license and is fluent in English, Pashto, and Spanish in addition to Urdu and Hindko.

Before entering active politics, Faraz had worked as an investment banker and had previously served as a pilot in the Pakistan Air Force as well as a civil servant.

On 20 September 2022, Faraz was aboard a helicopter with former premier and PTI founder Imran Khan and 2 others which was leaving Chakwal after a political rally by Imran Khan when the pilot of the plane fell ill. Faraz, a former pilot, took over and safely landed the helicopter.
