Reconciliation is better, says Pervaiz Elahi on Imran Khan’s release

Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has hinted at a shift in political strategy within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by suggesting the leadership pursue reconciliation as the best path forward for securing the release of party founder Imran Khan.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, speaking to the media during his appearance at an accountability court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Pervaiz Elahi stated, "Condemnation comes first, and then reconciliation—and reconciliation is always better."
When a journalist asked him about the current direction of the country, Elahi responded calmly, "One should always remain hopeful. The situation will improve."
In a follow-up question regarding the apparent contradiction between a protest call for August 5 for Imran Khan’s release and simultaneous talk of negotiations, Elahi appeared surprised, replying, "This is news to me."
He then reiterated, "Condemnation is followed by reconciliation—and reconciliation is better. Negotiations usually lead to some positive outcome."
Earlier, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appeared before Special Accountability Court Judge Sheikh Ejaz Ali in connection with the Takht Pari forest land reference against him.
The court had previously issued arrest warrants for Pervaiz Elahi over his non-appearance in the same reference. His legal team submitted a request for cancellation of the arrest warrants during today's hearing.
