17 nursing staff suspended after HIV cases detected in children in Karachi hospital

Out of 37 employees who received show cause notices, 17 nursing staff have been suspended after HIV cases reported in children at Valika Hospital in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Among the suspended employees, a matron, a nursing sister, 9 staff nurses and 6 aid nurses included.

The suspended nursing staff has been instructed to report to the SESSI head office immediately.

Separate show cause notices have also been issued to the suspended employees on the allegations.

Two doctors were suspended yesterday in the HIV case, while a dispenser has been removed from his post.

The number of employees who have been subject to action so far has reached 20.

On the other hand, Saeed Ghani has announced an endowment fund for the welfare of affected children.

The endowment fund will be spent on the treatment and welfare of HIV-affected children.
