Karachi University flooded again as Water Board negligence wastes millions and threatens cemetery

Karachi University has once again turned into a waterlogged disaster zone after a major 36-inch water pipeline burst and an 84-inch main line developed a massive leak — all while Water Board staff remain conspicuously absent for the third straight day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The university's internal roads, including the one leading to the campus cemetery, are completely submerged.

According to reports, the 36-inch pipeline is leaking at multiple points, while a hole has emerged in the 84-inch Water Board pipeline, wreaking havoc across the campus.

The situation is so dire that graves in the university cemetery are now at serious risk of submersion, sparking concern among staff, students, and families with loved ones buried there.

Ironically, this crisis unfolds as Karachi continues to grapple with a severe water shortage — yet water has been gushing out uncontrollably from the university pipelines for days, resulting in the wastage of millions of gallons and crores of rupees in damages.

Despite the urgency, no remedial action has been taken by the Water Board, and their teams have reportedly been missing in action, raising questions about accountability and crisis management.
