Karachi University teachers continue protest for enhancement in allowances
Teachers and other employees of the Karachi University continued their protest and sit-in in favour of their demands in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The protesting teachers and employees demanded that the government increase their house selling allowance, leave encashment, and payment of outstanding dues of evening programmes.
The protesters said that their protest will continue till acceptance of all their demands.
They further demanded that the government invite them for negotiations. The protesters warn that their protest and sit-in will become harmful if the government fails to clear their outstanding dues.
It is necessary to mention here that despite intervention by the provincial authorities, strong opposition from teachers to signing any agreement that does not include a firm commitment to immediate financial relief compelled the Karachi University Teachers’ Society (Kuts) to continue its protest, including the boycott of semester examinations on the campus.
