Weather alert: Rain & snowfall expected across Pakistan
New westerly system to bring rain from today: Heavy rain and snowfall expected in northern areas from March 10-16: Thunderstorms and rain predicted in Balochistan from March 14
A new westerly weather system has entered Pakistan, bringing rainfall and snowfall to various regions from March 10 to March 16, according to the meteorological department.
Rain forecast for major cities
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Mardan are expected to receive rain showers in the coming days.
Chitral, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir will experience continuous rainfall throughout the week.
Balochistan will see thunderstorms and rain from March 14 onwards.
Heavy snowfall warning
Upper regions, including Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, may witness intense snowfall, leading to potential road blockages.
Authorities have advised travelers and residents in affected areas to stay updated on weather conditions, especially in hilly regions where snowfall might disrupt travel.
Heatwave returns to Lahore
Lahore is experiencing a hot wave as the winter season is about to end soon. According to the Met Office, the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 28 centigrade and the minimum was 17 centigrade.
The Met Office predicted that a rainy system will enter the city from March 9, 025 to March 12, 2025. The percentage of moisturizer in the air is 66 percent, while the winds are running at a speed of five kilometers per hour, while Lahore achieved second position in air pollution.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) level was recorded at 174 percent in Lahore.
Karachi witnesses rise in temperature
A summer season is also approaching fast in Karachi, as the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 39.1 centigrade.
The Met Office predicted that Karachi will experience a sunny and dry day on Sunday. The minimum temperature will likely reach 18 to 20 centigrade.
The overall temperature of the city will remain cloudy and dry, accompanied by a low, cold wave. The winds are running at the speed of 8 kilometres per hour. The moisturizer in the air is 32 percent.
The Met Office said that Karachi’s air pollution is still poor, while the city has become the 17th most polluted city in the world.
The number of polluted particles in the air was recorded at 145 perticulate meters.
