Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has said the court decision to let PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif go abroad depicts an old mindset and vowed to appeal it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry who was also accompanied by PM Advisor on Accountability and Interior Shahzad Akbar said that PTI reserves the right to appeal the Lahore High Court decision which allowed PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to go to England for medical treatment.
He said the court decision is in fact a manifestation of an outdated system. He said if Shehbaz Sharif could not bring back his elder brother Nawaz Sharif, for whom he had become a guarantor in the court, then how his own guarantee that he would return the country could be acceptable?
Fawad said that they were expecting that the court would inquire from Shehbaz about his guarantee in Nawaz’s case and would direct him to bring Nawaz back. But some people in PML-N are misleading the court, Fawad added.
Fawad said that the government would challenge the LHC decision in the higher court. He rejected the impression that the government was not implementing the LHC decisions.
Fawad said that two political parties have ruled over the country for 20 years. He said they laundered money from here and stashed it in foreign countries. He said the government had no enmity with the Sharif family. He said a German newspaper revealed the Panama scandal. He said billions of rupees were laundered and expensive properties were bought abroad.
The information minister said that Nawaz’s London apartments are of billions of dollars’ worth. He said the PTI has performed its duty as a political party. He said in a democratic setup our authority is not limitless. He said courts and the prosecution wings should also play their role. He said people still believe that system has not changed yet.
Fawad said PTI is fighting for bringing about a change in the system. He said Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid health problem is far critical than Shehbaz Sharif but she is getting treatment from Pakistan. He asked why Nawaz and Shehbaz could not get their treatment from Pakistan. He wondered if it was not the patriotic duty of Nawaz’s children to do business in Pakistan.
The information minister said from 1988 to 1999 and from 2008 to 2018, corruption of billions of rupees was committed, adding that the PML-N was in power during both these stints. He said Nawaz owns four apartments in London. His daughter Maryam Nawaz said on TV that they did not have any property in Pakistan, not to talk of any property in London.
He said a German newspaper published the story of most disgraceful rulers of the world. The paper revealed the names of richest rulers of the poorest countries of the world and Nawaz’s name appeared in that Panama scandal.
Fawad said Nawaz bought an apartment worth 45million pounds and broadsheet mentioned this apartment.
He said giving permission to Shahbaz to go abroad is injustice to other prisoners.
Shahzad Akbar said some PML-N leaders are misleading the courts and people. He said the court order is about black list. Shehbaz’s name is in PNI list. He said government would go into appeal against the LHC order. He said government has documentary proofs against Shehbaz and would initiate latter’s trial on the basis of these proofs after Eid.
Akbar said that Nawaz is a proclaimed offender and he must be brought to Pakistan. He must be questioned about his relationship with Manzoor Papadwala. He said Nawaz never gave detail how did he manage to buy London flats.
Akbar said the government would present proofs against Shehbaz in the court. He said in this case Shahbaz was declared a leader of a money laundering group. He said Pakistan is in FATF grey list because of money laundering. So how could government let him off the hook, he said adding the government would pursue this case.
He said he has brought Volume 55 which has been submitted to the court along with the reference. He said government would hold trial against PML-N president after Eid.
