An extortionist has demanded Rs5 million from a resident of Garden Town locality of Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

As per the FIR registered on the complaint of Muhammad Javed, a resident of Ahmad Block, Garden Town, under sections related to extortion and Telegraph Act, he received a call on WhatsApp from a man who was not on his contacts’ list. “The man introduced himself as Waqas Gondal, resident of Kot Momin, Sargodha and said that several cases were registered against him,” read the FIR.

It was further stated that Waqas told Javed that he knew each and every member of his family and knew which school his son studied in.

Javed said in his complaint that the man threatened him that in case he failed to pay the amount, he would not only kidnap his son but would also blow up all houses in his street.

“Waqas kept calling me from different numbers and demanding the amount,” Javed added.

On the other hand, police said that hunt had been launched for the arrest of the suspect.
