No increase in public transport fares in Punjab
In a major development, the Government of Punjab and public transporters have agreed not to increase fares of public transport in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Rana Mohsin said that the Punjab transport department obtained an affidavit from all the public transport owners.
He said that the majority of public transporters had already deposited their affidavits.
Rana Mohsin said that strict action will be taken against all those transporters who increase the fares of public transport.
He said that various raiding squads were constituted to ensure implementation at the bus stands in the City.
RTA Secretary said that transporters decided by themselves not to increase the fares in the best public interest.
