Pakistan earns bronze glory at Islamic Solidarity Games

Pakistan’s Qudrat Ullah and Fatima Zahra clinched bronze medals in boxing at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games after bowing out in their respective semi-finals on Sunday. 

Qudrat secured bronze in the men’s 55kg category after losing to Egypt’s Amir Mohamed Farag Ahmed Kelany in the semi-final.

Earlier, he had outclassed Sudan’s Mohamed Othman 10–0 in the quarter-final.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Fatima Zahra also earned a bronze medal after being defeated in her semi-final bout.

She had earlier delivered a commanding 5–0 victory over Algeria’s Hamda Melissa in the women’s 60kg quarter-final.

In another achievement, Arusha Saeed added to Pakistan’s medal tally by winning bronze in the women’s 57kg Kurash event, marking Pakistan’s first-ever accolade in the sport at the Games.

In swimming, Jehanara Nabi advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 50m butterfly with a time of 30.7 seconds, but could not make it to the final.

In the men’s 50m butterfly, Ali Mohammad Mitha (26.31s) and Syed Mohammad Sodik Malik Hatim (26.13s) finished seventh in their respective heats. Turkey’s Berk Ozkul led the qualifiers with a time of 24.45 seconds.

The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games are taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025, bringing together athletes from across the Muslim world.

The event marks the games’ return to Saudi Arabia, which hosted the inaugural edition in 2005 across Mecca, Medina, Jeddah, and Taif.
