Lockdown to last till April 14; first flight to land on Saturday

The federal government has extended the lockdown for another two weeks to April 14, and announced that the first international flight will land on April 4 bringing back the Pakistanis, who could not come earlier due to the closure of the international flights.

Speaking at a media briefing in Islamabad on Wednesday, Dr Moeed Yusuf, Special Assistant to PM on Security Affairs said that 17 flights will be allowed between the period of April 3 and April 11. However, the domestic flight operations will remain suspended until further orders.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umer said: “We’ll decide in a meeting before April 14, whether to relax or extend the lockdown.”

However, Umer added that all the goods transport would be allowed to move, and the food-related industries and pharmaceutical companies would be exempted from the lockdown.

Special Assistant to PM on Health Affairs Dr Zafar Mirza said that the suspected patients of the coronavirus in the country are around 17331, in addition to 2071 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in a statement said the ban on domestic flights operations will remain intact till April 11 at 9pm.
