In seemingly less than a month since the coronavirus has changed Pakistani way of life – at least for the time being.

In the hopes of promoting social isolation – thereby slowing the spread of the virus and reducing the burden and pressure on the hospitals and health care centers of our country – just about everything has been closed, from sports stadiums to restaurants and cinema houses.

So, to help your social distancing go as entertainingly as possible, here is a list of best Pakistani movies and dramas to watch on Netflix.

Cake

Released last year in its homeland, the US and the UK (the first Pakistani film to be premiered in Leicester Square, London), it opened to rave reviews in the global press, besides being chosen as its country's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Cake may not have made it to the final nominations, but the movie is a must watch.

Teefa In Trouble

The film, released on July 20 last year, grossed 50 crores on box office and won the Best Film Actor and Best Film Director awards at the Lux Style Awards.

The film revolves around Teefa (essayed by Ali Zafar), a lower middle-class guy from Lahore, who works for a local gangster, Butt Sahab (Mehmood Aslam), and Anya (Maya Ali), a bold and independent girl who originally hails from Lahore but lives in Poland. How Teefa and Anya meet and how their two worlds collide is what the film is all about.

Humsafar

This drama is a must watch when it comes to original love stories and there hasn’t been another serial to date, that depicted love so strongly.

Ho Mann Jahan

The film is a representation of the current dichotomy of our culture, where we speak about free will but embrace conformity readily.

Parents enforce limits and dictate words because they love their kids but don't understand them at times. This is a multi-layered film, interacting with both younger and older generations.

Zindage Gulzar Hai

Zindagi Gulzar Hai was the tale of love being found in its purest form, and it was about how love can transform a bitter person to embrace love as a whole. It was a lovable drama and yes, it had Fawad Khan as its male lead, the heartthrob.

Chupan Chupai

Chupan Chupai is a Pakistani comedy thriller film, directed by Mohsin Ali.  The film received generally positive reviews and became a commercial success at the box office.

The beauty of Chupan Chupai is that, even with its loopholes, it has more than enough to keep you engaged (mostly hysterically laughing) and busy with several twists and turns.

Khaani

After constantly topping ratings, social drama Khaani that aired last year is now available on Netflix. The Feroze Khan and Sana Javed-starrer tackled multiple social themes and went on to become a critical and commercial success.
