Another LHC bench dissolved after judge refuses to hear Kh Asif bail plea

The third bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) which was due to hear the bail plea of ​​PML-N leader Khawaja Asif on Tuesday was dissolved after a judge refused to hear the petition, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Khawaja Asif had sought post-arrest bail in assets beyond means case.

Judge Asjad Javed Ghurral, a member of the division bench comprising Justice Aalia Neelam, declined to hear the case due to personal reasons. Now the matter has been referred to the LHC chief justice to fix another bench for hearing Khawaja Asif’s bail plea.

Until then, the case of Khawaja Asif has been adjourned till an indefinite period. 

It may be mentioned that former foreign minister Khawaja Asif through his counsel Barrister Haider Rasul Mirza filed the petition that stated that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested him from Islamabad last year on December 29.

He said that the corruption watchdog apprehended him despite the fact that he had provided it with all the relevant records regarding his assets. Khawaja Asif pleaded with the bench to order his release on bail.

The NAB in the past opposed the bail plea stating the corruption watchdog launched an assets beyond means inquiry against him as his assets do not match with his income.
