Khaqan Shahnawaz clarifies his ‘pretty privilege’ statement

Pakistani actor Khaqan Shahnawaz made an appearance on Shahveer Jafry's podcast and clarified his controversial statement about his good looks.

While being interviewed, the actor from 'College Gate' was asked about the reason behind his rapid success in getting roles. He clarified that it wasn't because of his friendship with Daniyal Zafar, but rather because he considered himself fortunate.

He acknowledged that there are many more talented individuals out there, but he believes that society's preference for certain physical attributes, such as a fair complexion and tall height, played a role in his opportunities.

He clarified that his intention was not to portray himself as someone extraordinary. He was simply stating facts that were misinterpreted by people, leading to his being labeled as a 'narcissist'. He emphasized that if he had been bragging, he would not have given credit to anyone for his success.

The actor further mentioned to Shahveer that establishing a friendship with him also provided him with significant exposure in the industry.

Here are the exact words from his previous interview that led him to become a troll and earned him the label of narcissist and self-obsessed.

“I have the best gift of all; I have the genetic gift; I looked this way (pointing towards his face); who will deny that being conventionally good-looking will not help? I am a conventionally good-looking guy; I have green eyes; I have a fair skin color; I am tall; I am broad; and I have a well-defined face."

"These things help you. Why do I sit and say, Oh no, I worked really hard? I worked really hard, but I am very privileged to be a section of society that can be friends with people like Danyal Zafar without being in the industry.

I am educated, I have never had to go hungry, and those things really help you. I can fly to Karachi to meet a friend or a director. I can afford an apartment in Karachi; actually, I got an apartment because I am privileged.”

On the work front, Khaqan has appeared in the drama serials ‘Yunhi’, ‘Hadsa’, ‘Barwaan Khiladi’, ‘College Gate', and ‘Sukoon’ and all set to win heart in 'Dil pay Dastal' alongside Aena Khan

He was a content creator before, and he still makes funny sketches and videos on his social media.
