Punjab spares Rs1.16b to buy 10 gyrocopters for air ambulance service

The Punjab government has increased the budget for ‘Air Ambulance’ and allocated a total of Rs1.16 billion, enhancing it from Rs500 million earlier spared for the project, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Punjab government’s Standing Committee has reserved Rs500 million to buy 10 gyrocopters for air ambulance service but now increased the amoung to Rs1.16 billion.

Earlier, Director-General Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer said that air ambulances would be launched in high-risk areas of the province. He said the provincial authorities are taking all possible steps to further improve the rescue services as emergency services are handling over 1,000 road accidents in all districts on a daily basis.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had said that Punjab would be the first province to start ‘Rescue 1122 Air Ambulance’ service.

The government had also expanded the scope of rescue service to 86 tehsils while motorcycle ambulance service was extended to 27 districts.
