Punjab Constabulary appointment period extended by 2 years

The Punjab government has officially extended the period of appointment in the Punjab Constabulary (PC) by an additional two years, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The decision was formalized through the approval of standing orders, which have now been disseminated to all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and members of the Punjab Constabulary across the province.

Under the newly sanctioned standing orders, the tenure of appointment for officials within the PC has been increased to 39 years.

This marked a significant departure from the previous practice, where any official within the Punjab Constabulary could be appointed for a maximum of 37 years.

The initiative to extend the appointment period by two years was set into motion by Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, who submitted a comprehensive summary to the Punjab government advocating for the policy shift.

The senior officials opined that the move is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the structure and dynamics of the Punjab Constabulary, ushering in a new era of service and commitment.
