Sindh Cultural Department to pay last respect to Humaira Asghar
The Sindh culture department has expressed willingness to pay last respect to late actress Humaira Asghar, whose body was found in an 'advanced decomposed state' from her Defence Apartment in Karachi on Tuesday.
Humaira Asghar was found dead in her apartment, and her family refused to accept her body.
Investigations suggested that the body is likely months old.
After her family refused to accept her body, many from the showbiz industry came forward, voluntarily asking authorities to perform her last rites. Actress Yashma Gill, Sonya Hussyn, and Yasir Hussain requested officials to allow them to arrange her funeral.
Lately, the Sindh Cultural Department, in a notification on Thursday, expressed that it wants to arrange Humaira Asghar’s burial arrangements.
Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has also taken notice of Humaira Ali’s death.
“In light of this situation and considering her contributions to the arts and culture of the country, the culture department is willing to take responsibility for her burial arrangements with respect and in a dignified manner,” the notice reads, which was addressed to the South DIG. “It is therefore requested that her body be handed over to the culture department for burial after fulfilling formalities as per law.”
The notice authorizes the director-general of culture, Munawar Mahaser, to carry out any additional legal procedures regarding the matter.
