LHC orders DPO Sargodha to himself supervise probe into torture case
The Lahore High Court has expressed displeasure over the faulty investigation in a torture case and ordered DPO Sargodha to supervise investigation himself and submit report in the court on next hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
DPO Sargodha Sohaib Ashraf appeared before the Lahore High Court on Friday in the bail case of the accused and could not defend the investigating officer.
DPO Sargodha appeared along with Deputy Prosecutor General Hafiz Asghar Ali.
Justice Muhammad Tariq Nadeem heard the interim bail application of the accused Sher Samand in a fight and torture case.
The court remarked that plaintiff stated that accused Abdullah injured his nose while investigator says Umair.
The one who got injured says that accused Abdullah inflicted the wound and MLC is also present, Justice Muhammad Tariq Nadeem remarked.
The court further remarked that the injured person is alive and is taking the name of accused Abdullah while the investigating officer is taking the name of Umair.
DPO Sargodha Sohaib Ashraf confessed the faulty investigation by investigating officer in court and stated that I have reviewed the matter and the investigation officer has conducted a poor investigation.
DPO stated that the case is now being investigated by the SP who is currently present in the court.
The court extended the interim bail of the accused and adjourned the hearing till July 16.
