Two robbers were shot dead after coming under the attack by their accomplices in the Punjab capital late Thursday.

The dead, Waqar Ahmed and Haider, were in custody and the police team was on their way to arrest their other accomplices.

Four gunmen sprayed the police with a volley of bullets in a bid to free Waqar and Haid from the lawmen.

As police retaliated, the gunmen fled. However, the lawmen have launched a hunt for the runaway robbers.

Reportedly, the gang is wanted to police in heinous crimes across the province.
