Muslims sit inside mosques to observe Itikaf all over world

As Ramadan 2026 enters its final ten days, thousands of worshippers have taken up residence inside mosques to observe Itikaf all over the world as well as in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Amid tight security arraignments, entry was granted following the completion of registration and the issuance of official permits by the concerned mosques authority. 

A total of 2,400 men and 800 women are performing Itikaf at Masjid-e-Nabawi. The designated Itikaf areas for men are located on the eastern roof of the Prophet’s Mosque, while the women’s areas are located in the eastern expansion. 

Masjid an-Nabawi’s Itikaf areas are equipped with four main halls, each containing 48 sections. Participants are provided with personal lockers to store their belongings and personal items. Additionally, suitable spaces have been allocated to ensure comfort during the rituals.

Those observing i’tikaf are provided with various services, including air conditioning and appropriate lighting, perfume and incense, breakfast and suhoor meals, safety systems, directional signs and electronic awareness screens, medical and ambulance care, mobile device charging ports, laundry service, and a bag containing personal hygiene items and comfort and sleeping supplies for each person.

Itikaf is the Islamic practice of withdrawing from daily life to devote oneself entirely to worship, prayer, and reflection within a mosque. Observed during the final ten nights of Ramadan, it is considered one of the most powerful acts of devotion a Muslim can undertake — a complete disconnection from the outside world in pursuit of spiritual closeness to Allah.

With registration complete and permits issued, the doors of both mosques are now open to those who will spend the remaining nights of Ramadan 2026 in seclusion, prayer, and devotion.
