Pakistan exit PSA World Squash Championship in second round

Pakistan’s journey at the PSA World Squash Championship came to an early end as both national players were eliminated in the second round of the event being held in Egypt, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

In the men’s draw of the $71,000 tournament, Pakistan’s world number 28 and Under-23 champion Nour Zaman was defeated 3-0 by Egypt’s world number 8 and junior world champion Mohamed Zakaria.

Zakaria controlled the match from the start, winning the first game 11-4, followed by 11-5 in the second.

He then sealed a straight-games victory with another 11-5 win in the third game, knocking Zaman out of the competition.

In another second-round match, Pakistan’s world number 46 Muhammad Ashab Irfan was also eliminated after losing 3-0 to England’s Nathan Lake.

Lake, who is based in the United States, won a closely contested match, taking the first game 11-3 before edging out the second 14-12 and the third 12-10 to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
