November 10, 2022 08:22 PM
Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar’s application for leave has been approved, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
Punjab IGP has been granted 14 days leave to perform Umrah.
According to the details, IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar has been granted leave from November 10 to November 23 and in his absence, Additional IG Elite Kunwar Mohammad Shahrukh will perform the duties as IG Punjab. Kunwar Muhammad Shah Rukh is currently performing the duties of Additional IG Elite. Kunwar Muhammad Shahrukh is a Grade 21 officer of Pakistan Police Service. He belongs to the Eighteenth Common of Police.
Faisal Shahkar succeeded former Punjab IGP Sardar Ali Khan on the 23rd of July 2022.
He has recently requested the federal government to take back his services as he had refused to work under the Punjab government after an impasse over registering the FIR of the Wazirabad firing incident. However, Establishment Division rejected his request and asked him to continue serving on the current post before his departure to join the United Nations as a Police adviser.
The Punjab government, however, disagreed with the federal government and sent a summary to replace the IGP and also proposed three names to replace him.
Punjab IGP was already absent from his office for two days and his office has been turned into a fort in wake of the protests of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as the roads heading to the IG office have been barred by placing containers and placing barriers and barbed wires.
