Faisal Vawda says PTI ‘misled public’, claims 27th Amendment passed with full consensus

Senator Faisal Vawda on Monday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing its leaders of misleading the public about the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Speaking to the media, he said the “truth of PTI people has come before the public” and claimed the party “talks big but does nothing.”

Vawda said PTI had been “slapped in the face” as its “true nature” was exposed during the amendment process.

He noted that no party opposed the bill in the Senate, which, he said, effectively meant the amendment was passed unanimously.

According to him, the legislation would also pass through the National Assembly “faster than water.”

He said it had already been expected that the 27th Amendment would be approved easily and claimed PTI had also contributed to its passage. Vawda added that no political party raised objections regarding Article 243 and insisted the amendment was introduced for Pakistan’s security.

He praised Senator Saifullah Abro for fulfilling what he described as his national responsibility, noting that the treasury benches had additional votes available and Senator Irfanullah Siddiqui was unable to attend due to illness.

Vawda reiterated that it had long been anticipated that the amendment would “pass easily like water.”
