Matric Arts students to get admission in FSc and DAE programmes

The federal government has proposed allowing matric arts students to seek admission in FSc (Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering), ICS, and Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) programmes,  24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

In a significant development for students of the arts stream, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) subcommittee finalised the recommendations during a high-level meeting held at the Punjab Board of Technical Education, Lahore, the insiders claimed.

The session was attended by chairpersons of education boards from all four provinces, as well as leading education experts.

The proposal aims to open new avenues of higher education for matric arts students, bridging the gap between general and technical education.

According to officials, this step will create greater academic mobility and career options for thousands of students.

The committee also discussed several examination reforms, including a proposal to introduce 50 percent objective-type questions in exams from 2026 to enhance transparency and assessment standards.

Moreover, the participants reviewed a revised grading and division system for new matric tech courses.

Speaking to 24NEWS, Secretary Muhammad Hafeez stated that new opportunities in science and technical education are being created for arts students, marking a progressive step toward inclusive, modern education.
