Fawad opposes ban on TikTok
In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Fawad said the government’s decision to ban TikTok would adversely affect the use of technology in Pakistan. He said his ministry was paying more attention to digital technology and he has appealed to the prime minister not to ban technology in the country. He said the ministry of science was developing a special Urdu software for policemen and this software will make use of technology for them easier.
Pakistan banned TikTok over its failure to filter out “immoral and indecent” content, says Pakistan’s telecommunications authority.
The decision came after a number of complaints from different segments of the society, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a statement on Friday.
“Keeping in view the complaints and nature of the content being consistently posted on TikTok, PTA issued a final notice to the application,” the statement said.
“However, the application failed to fully comply with the instructions. Therefore, directions were issued for blocking of TikTok application in the country.”
