Police thwart terrorist attack on DI Khan checkpost

After a quick response from the police, armed terrorists who attacked Aba Shaheed Checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan with snipers and other heavy weapons escaped from the scene, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan Sajjad Ahmad Khan Sahibzada confirmed the attack and said that the policemen fought bravely and forced the terrorists to flee the area.

DPO Sajjad Ahmad Khan said that the police retaliated with full force, which forced the terrorist to escape.

The DPO lauded the outstanding performance shown by the brave jawans of Dera Ismail Khan police. He said that no loss of life and property was reported from the area.

Later, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police contingents cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the terrorists.

Earlier in May 2025, police foiled terrorists bid to attack security forces by damaging roads in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan).

Sources said that after receiving credible intelligence report that terrorists placed improvised explosive device (IED) on different locations on the roads to target security forces in the jurisdiction of Khoi Barah Police Station.
