Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Thursday submitted an application in the Supreme Court against the presidential reference regarding upcoming Senate elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In its application, the PML-N has prayed to the Supreme Court to decide against the presidential reference as the government has filed the reference for the political gains.
PNL-N, in its application, prayed to the SC to order to hold Senate elections as per Article 226 as holding the elections through open balloting would be a violation of the constitution.
The Supreme Court Thursday resumed the hearing of the presidential reference for holding the elections through open balloting and ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to submit the schedule for the Senate polls.
During the hearing, Justice Yahya Afridi asked the Attorney General of Pakistan what was the reason behind to bring the presidential ordinance during the hearing of the case.

He said he could not bear the brunt if the Senate polls would have been declared void.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed asked the ECP lawyer about the Senate polls schedule.
The ECP lawyer told the court that the ECP has released the schedule for the elections and the candidates could submit their nomination papers from tomorrow (Friday) and the elections would be held on March 3.
He also prayed to the court to give ample time to the ECP for printing the ballot papers and other preparations.
The CJP asked the ECP to continue their work as per their schedule and it was up to the court give decision in the case
The court adjourned the hearing till Monday next. In the next hearing, the Attorney General would complete his arguments in 15 minutes and after that Senator Raza Rabbani would present his arguments.
