Perhaps completely oblivious to the miseries and the pain of the people already hit by inflation, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government is planning to increase electricity rates by Rs2.80 paisas in the next five months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Quoting its sources, the channel reported that if announced, the increase would put an additional burden of Rs292 billion on the consumers.
Sources further revealed that the federal cabinet’s energy committee had already approved the reviewed circular debt plan.
Only in the ongoing month, hike by 63 paisas per unit in the basic power tariff is on the cards.
