A large number of transgender community members protested outside the parliament on Monday to lodge their protest demanding justice over Rimal Ali’s rape and torture, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
They also held a demonstration outside Islamabad Press Club recording their protest amid sloganeering in support of model Rimal Ali, Pakistan’s first transgender model who alleged that a man named Jahanzeb Khan has tortured and raped her, and urged authorities to look into the matter.
Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari reached the protest site and assured action will be taken against the accused person from Attock who allegedly tortured model Rimal Ali.
Shereen Mazari also spoke with the Assistant Commissioner and said the Human Rights Ministry will provide a lawyer and the accused should be brought to justice. Mazari directed the concerned police station to take action against those involved in the incident.
She assured the protesters that the government’s new law is coming for the transgender community and the government will always support the transgender community.
She directed the protesters to meet the Secretary Human Rights and prepared a joint action plan against the incident.
Rimal Ali in a video released claimed a man allegedly raped and physically tortured her.
The model said the accused shaved her eyebrows and hair and there were scars of cigarette butts on her body. Rimal Ali said that she was tortured daily and that the suspect was wanted in four murder cases.
In her tweet model Rimal said her life is at risk and if anything happened to her, Jahanzeb Khan is to be held responsible. “I’m being stopped from working in the showbiz industry”, she claimed.
