Gas supply to Karachi industries suspended for 24 hours

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) decided to suspend gas supply to Karachi industries for 24 hours from 8 am (Sunday) to 8 am (Monday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

A spokesman of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited has said that the decision was taken due to the ongoing severe cold weather.

He said that SSGCL is taking all measures to provide an uninterrupted gas supply to domestic and commercial consumers.

The spokesman said that the decision was taken as the cold wave gripped Karachi and the demand for gas increased. He advised the consumer to contact Helpline 1199 in case of any operational help.

The spokesman clarified that the gas supply will be disconnected as per the load management schedule from 10 am to 5 am.

Citizens complained that the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders already put pressure on their domestic budget.

Due to low pressure, citizens were also facing huge difficulties in preparing food. Residents of Malir, Jackson, Manghopir, Shah Latif Town, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Kanwari Colony, Korangi, Orangi Town, Baldia, and Sultanabad are also facing a lot of problems due to the suspension of gas supply.

The issue of unannounced electricity loadshedding continues to haunt the residents of Karachi as they face electricity loadshedding for four to ten hours daily.

A spokesman of K Electric said that 70 percent feeders are exempted from loadshedding, and the remaining 30 percent feeders are facing loadshedding issues.

The spokesman further said that details of all areas that are experiencing loadshedding are available on K Electric’s website.
