Danyal Zafar's bold statement on real acting and grief sparks online debate
Pakistani actor Danyal Zafar has sparked conversation on social media after sharing an emotional BTS update from the set of Zanjeerain.
Taking to Instagram, Danyal Zafar shared a series of BTS pics and clips from Zanjeerain, giving fans a closer look at the making of one of the drama's most emotional scenes.
However, it was his deeply personal caption that quickly became the center of attention. the actor posted a heartfelt note explaining his approach to emotional acting while responding to criticism surrounding his performance.
In his message, Danyal humorously described his attempt to cry during the scene, joking that his "operation cry mode" had failed and that he had gone from trying to control a single tear to crying like a baby.

He playfully wrote that while his "performative masculinity" had taken a hit, his willingness to embrace vulnerability had grown stronger.
Reflecting on the emotional scene, Danyal said grief is one of the most personal experiences a person can go through and cannot be measured by a single standard.

According to him, every individual processes pain differently. Some people grieve in silence, others through denial, numbness, emptiness, tears, or even without shedding a single tear. He emphasized that it is unfair to expect everyone to express sorrow in the same way.

The actor also used the opportunity to speak about acting, suggesting that subtle performances are often overlooked.
He remarked that many people only consider loud, dramatic expressions to be "real acting," whereas genuine human emotions are usually much quieter and more restrained.

Danyal further argued that the frequent use of glycerine in emotional scenes has shaped unrealistic expectations, making audiences believe that visible tears are the only sign of authentic emotion.

He questioned whether a more natural and nuanced style of acting could finally receive the appreciation it deserves.
Concluding his note, Danyal revealed that he has faced criticism since his school days but said he remains unfazed by negativity. Ending on a light-hearted note, he jokingly encouraged his critics to "try harder."

In Zanjeerain, Danyal Zafar plays Sar Buland, one of the drama's central characters. Sar Buland belongs to a powerful family caught in a generations-old rivalry that drives much of the story's conflict.
As the narrative unfolds, the character is forced to navigate family loyalty, emotional struggles and difficult personal choices, making his journey one of the drama's most emotionally layered storylines.
