Rain, snow in country’s northern areas turn weather chilly again 

Rain and snowfall have been reported from the country’s northern areas during the last 24 hours as another westerly wave has entered the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.  

Temperatures have plummeted in Neelum Valley, Balakot, Kaghan Valley, Shogran, Naran and Leepa Valley following snowfall, while rain has lashed the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).  

Snowfall has also led to the closure of several roads, including the Kaghan-Shogran Road in KP. 

Similarly, showers and snowfall have also been reported from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and its outskirts. 

It has been snowing in the upper areas of Neelum Valley and Jhelum Valley namely Kel, Shonhter, Pir Kanthi, Pandu, Lamnian, Reshian and Dau Khan for the last two days, while there are reports of intermittent rainfall from the low-lying areas of these valleys, including Hatyan Bala, Chinari, Chakothi and Chakar.  

Meanwhile, the Met Office has forecast showers for different parts of KP, Punjab, including Lahore, and Balochistan from Wednesday (March 12) to March 16.    

Similarly, more rain and snow have been predicted for AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) during the aforementioned period.

However, the Met Office has said that the weather in Sindh, including Karachi, would remain dry during the next 48 hours.

The maximum temperature in the port city is expected to touch 38 degrees Celsius later today.
