Farid Ahmed Tarar appointed CCP chairman

The federal government on Wednesday appointed Farid Ahmed Tarar the new chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP).

A formal notification regarding his appointment has been issued.

The position of the CCP chairman became vacant after Dr. Kabir Sidhu was appointed chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

Tarar is a Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service. Prior to this appointment, he served as Secretary of the Punjab Tourism, Archaeology and Museums Department.

According to official sources, Tarar brings extensive experience in public administration and governance, which is expected to support the commission’s efforts to promote fair competition and regulate market practices in the country.
