The traders of the federal capital Friday filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the closure of roads due to the sit-in of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition and summoned the officials of the Ministry of Interior in personal capacity on Monday.
“A joint secretary level officer of the Interior Ministry should appear on Monday,” the court directed.
“Protests have been going on since the change of government in April last,” the petition said.
“An Azadi March sit-in was announced and roads were blocked on the instructions of the PTI leaders,” it added.
“Citizens and businessmen are facing difficulties. Their fundamental rights are being affected,” it complained.
“The government should be directed to maintain traffic flow on the roads, especially the motorway,” it pleaded.
“The PTI should be bound to organise the sit-in and rally outside Islamabad,” it demanded.
