Smart lockdown imposed in Islamabad areas, 32 restaurants sealed

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) district administration continued its raids to enforce SOPs to stem the spread of coronavirus and sealed 32 restaurants in the federal capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The administration also imposed fines worth Rs78,000 and also various food operating businesses and two educational institutions on violation of SOPs.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said 47 shops and one workshop was also sealed over health guidelines violations that could spread COVID-19.

The administration also issued warning notices to 17 marriage halls over violations.

The ICT’s Inspection Teams visited wedding halls, educational institutions, business centers and petrol pumps and sealed two G11/T and G7/T3 schools for not complying with the SOPs. The TV channel reported teams inspected 173 different locations on Sunday.

Planning Minister Asad Umar said that Mini Smart Lockdown reimposed in Karachi, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir after average national positive cases crossed two percent bar in last week after remaining at two percent for six weeks.

He said administrations across the country has been directed to ensure safety measures but success is still impossible without the support of the people.

The TV channel reported Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has decided to launch smart lockdown in some areas including sector G-10/4, i-8/2 and G-9/4. 

In the last 24 hours (Saturday), 86 positive coronavirus cases were reported, as per the data released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).
