An emergency session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly will be held at 3:00 PM today as Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has decided to bring a no-trust motion against KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The decision to oust the chief minister through a vote of no-trust was taken at a sitting of the PTI seniors held in Peshawar late Friday night.

According to reports, the decision was taken in view of the non-acceptance of the resignation of Gandapur by the provincial governor.

It is pertinent to mention here that on the instructions of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, Gandapur had resigned from his seat a couple of days ago and Sohail Afridi was nominated for the seat instead.

Opposition parties swing into action

Meanwhile, the opposition parties in the provincial assembly have also swung into action as JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will today chair the party’s parliamentary party meeting in Islamabad to mull the strategy to reach out to other opposition parties and hold consultations with them prior to the election of the new CM.

The participants of the meeting will take stock of the overtures made to other opposition parties so far.
