Judicial Magistrate Karachi South has accepted an application moved by the police for the exhumation of Dr Maha Ali Shah’s grave and new post-mortem of the body, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On September 4 last, a court in Karachi had rejected the application forwarded by the police seeking permission for the exhumation of Dr Maha Ali’s grave in order to help solve her mysterious suicide.
The South Karachi court ruled that Dr Maha Ali had been buried in a graveyard in Mirpurkhas which was out of its jurisdiction. The court directed the police to contact local judicial authorities in this regard.
In its written order issued on Friday, the Judicial Magistrate South ruled that the court has no objection to the exhumation of the grave. “The prosecution should proceed as per law as the court cannot intervene in the investigative process. The exhumation and the post-mortem must be carried out as per law,” the magistrate added.
Dr Maha’s father had filed a case that her daughter was poisoned and drugged. He named Junaid, Arfan Qureshi, Waqas and others in the case.
