Undertrial prisoner dies at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail

A undertrial prisoner died due to sudden illness at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to officials, 40-year-old Owais Ahmed was detained in a drug case registered by Jatli Police Station. 

Police said the 40-year-old prisoner suddenly fell ill and died while being shifted to hospital.

Police said a case had been registered against him under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act.

According to the jail administration, the prisoner suddenly became unwell and was immediately taken to hospital by ambulance; however, he died on the way before reaching the hospital. Officials said further proceedings regarding the incident are under way.
