Pakistan, Belgium agree to deepen cooperation against illegal immigration

Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi Friday met Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin in Brussels, where the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation aimed at curbing illegal immigration and strengthening security collaboration.

During the meeting, both ministers held detailed discussions on issues of mutual interest, particularly efforts to prevent the smuggling of migrants.

They expressed a commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation to counter illegal immigration networks.

The talks also covered enhanced collaboration in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics operations, and joint training programmes for paramilitary forces.

Mohsin Naqvi said the global community must adopt a common strategy and coordinated measures to effectively tackle illegal immigration.

He added that Pakistan has already taken strong and effective steps to curb such activities.

Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin praised Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and preventing illegal migration, saying the country has set a positive example for the region and the wider international community.

Pakistani diplomats in Brussels and senior officials from the Belgian Interior Ministry also attended the meeting.
