One-Day One-Tehsil cleanliness drive launched in Layyah 

A one-day one-tehsil cleanliness campaign was launched in Layyah on Thursday on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister.

Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar inaugurated the drive at Kashmir Chowk, formally kicking off activities across the tehsil. The initiative aims to improve sanitation conditions and ensure a cleaner environment in both urban and surrounding areas.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that more than 2,000 workers are participating in the campaign. Teams from WASA, the Municipal Committee, Suthra Punjab programme, and district administration have been mobilised to carry out the operation.

He said the cleaning process is underway in roads, parks, streets, educational institutions, and government buildings. Special focus is being given to public spaces to ensure visible improvement within the day.

In addition to sanitation measures, price magistrates have been deployed to monitor and control prices in markets. Civil Defence staff have been assigned targets related to gas refilling checks, while enforcement teams have been tasked with removing encroachments.

District authorities stated that the coordinated effort is aimed at improving civic conditions and ensuring better service delivery across Layyah Tehsil.
