President approves appointment of Ambreen Jan as new PEMRA chairperson
The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has approved the appointment of Ambreen Jan as the new Chairperson of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.
According to official sources, Ambreen Jan, a former Federal Secretary for Information, will now head the country’s electronic media regulatory body. Her appointment comes at a time when the media sector faces evolving regulatory, technological, and policy challenges.

With extensive experience in public administration and media affairs, Jan is expected to bring institutional knowledge and policy expertise to the role.
As Information Secretary, she played a key role in overseeing government communication strategy and media coordination.
