13 killed in passenger buses collision in Bangladesh
Thirteen people were killed in a horrific road accident in Rampal, Bagerhat, Bangladesh. Two of them are children. Several others were injured. The accident occurred in the Belai Bridge area of the upazila on Thursday evening when a Bangladesh Navy bus and a passenger microbus collided head-on.
After receiving the news of the accident, police and fire service members went to the scene and started a rescue operation. The victims were rescued and sent to Rampal Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The bodies of four of the deceased are at Rampal Upazila Health Complex and the bodies of nine are at Khulna Medical College Hospital. The injured have been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. The identities of the victims were not immediately known.
Some eyewitnesses said that when the Bangladesh Navy bus, which left from Mongla, reached Belai Bridge area, it collided head-on with a Mongla-bound microbus coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the front parts of both vehicles were twisted. Several people were killed on the spot. The injured are in serious condition.
