Pakistan welcomes dissolution of Kurdistan Workers Party

Pakistan has officially welcomed the announcement regarding the dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), terming it a significant development for long-term peace and stability in the region, according to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.

In a statement issued Monday, the spokesperson said that Pakistan views the move as a positive step that could contribute to broader efforts aimed at securing regional harmony and ending violence.

Highlighting the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, Shafqat Ali Khan noted that the two nations have always stood by each other and share a strong partnership across all sectors, including a firm alliance on counter-terrorism cooperation.

“Pakistan and Turkiye have been collaborating closely in their efforts to eliminate terrorism, and this development further strengthens that shared commitment,” he said.

The PKK, designated as a terrorist organisation by Turkiye, the U.S., and the EU, has been involved in a decades-long conflict with the Turkish state. Its dissolution is expected to ease tensions and bolster diplomatic efforts in the region.
