Extreme heat kills 13 peacocks in Tharparkar
Peacock deaths increased in Tharparkar due to extreme heat and heatstroke as 13 peacocks died in two days in Nangarparkar and its surroundings, while dozens have fell sick, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the wildlife team, the condition of the birds is critical due to severe water shortage in the backward area.
To save the sick peacocks, the supply of multivitamins has been started with the cooperation of poultry teams.
Locals said that peacocks are getting sick and paralyzed after leaving feed and water.
Locals said the wildlife team has not yet reached our village demanding the sick peacocks should be treated immediately and saved from death.
According to Assistant Conservator Wildlife Ashfaq Ali Memon, the deaths of peacocks are not due to disease but are a result of 'heat stroke'.
Severe water shortage, thirst and extreme heat in the area have made the condition of innocent birds worrisome.
