JUI-F for holding by-polls in NA-45

A candidate of Jamiat- e- Ulema Islam (JUI) has filed an application in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold by-polls in NA-45 in district Kurram.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, The ECP has postponed the by-election in NA-45 on the pretext of the poor law and order situation in the constituency.

However, a candidate of JUI-F namely Jameel Khan filed the petition through his lawyer, in which it is requested that the by-election in the constituency should be held on a fixed date as there are no reasons for delaying the election in the constituency. It is pleaded that it is a requirement of the constitution to hold elections on any vacant seat within 60 days.

In the application, it is further prayed that the ECP to issue again the order of holding a by-election on October 16.

The Election Commission has fixed October 13 for the hearing of the application.
