Contempt of Court: LHC summons IG Punjab Police

Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Faisal Shahkar Monday along with other Police officials summoned by the Lahore High Court after notice on application for contempt of court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials accused IGP Faisal Shahkar of violation of court order over not receiving departmental promotions. The number of applications of court contempt against IGP rose to five.
Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi heard the applications of Fakhar Irshad and others. The applicants took a stand that they are Class IV employees in CTD Police and they appeared for departmental promotions for the Junior Clerk post. They passed the examination and typing test and meet the criteria under 20% Promotion Quota Rules 2017.
The applicants said that they applied for the promotions to the additional IG of CTD but it was left unheard after which they came to the High Court with their request.
The IG was given a deadline of four-month by the High Court to decide on the pending applications.
The court issued an order on the 14th of October in 2021 which has not yet been implemented, the applicants requested that contempt of court action be taken against IG Faisal Shahkar for violating the order.
