The National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice met with Mahmood Bashir in the chair, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Monday.
Committee member Qadir Mandukhel said the number of judges in the Supreme Court should be increased from 17 to 26.
Law Minister Nazir said instead of increasing the number, the ability should be increased.
Syed Naveed Qamar said that there should be no controversy over the speech of the judges.
The law minister said that in case of an attack on railway facilities, the punishment was death and life imprisonment. In this bill, it has been asked to specify any other punishment apart from these.
Encroachment upon Karachi’s Gilani and Zhob railway stations came under discussion during the meeting.
Presenting the Evidence Amendment Bill 2022 to the committee, Minister of Law Nazir Tarar said that in the cases of cybercrime and bomb blasts, modern scientific methods research and evidence are now the need of the hour.
At the request of committee member Alia Kamran, the Martyrdom Law Amendment Bill was postponed.
