Govt set to launch School Meal Program Assessment in 8 districts
Punjab Education Department is set to launch School Meal Program Assessment (SMPA) in 8 districts to eliminate malnutrition and improve health of primary students, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, the assessment for the program will be conducted by September 19 in Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, DG Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Mianwali, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, in which the baseline assessment of primary school students will be conducted.
An educational, health profile and questionnaire will be included in the assessment and accurate measurement of students height and weight are mandatory.
Department of Education has instructed District Education Authorities (DEAs) to immediately begin assessment and also to provide the students with milk and fortified biscuits. According to the department, the program will help increase attendance and reduce dropouts and it will also enable better mental development of children.
