Motorway M-5 under risk from floodwaters in Punjab

In Jalalpur Pirwala, rising floodwaters have raised concerns over possible damage to the M-5 Motorway, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Authorities rushed 20 truckloads of stones to reinforce the embankments after water diverted from a cut in the Uch Sharif Road struck the motorway’s protective barriers. Emergency measures are being carried out to protect the vital roadway.

Floodwater enters gas field in Ghotki:

In Ghotki, floodwaters from the Indus River entered a gas well at Qadirpur, Block No. 6, causing leakage. The swift current of the river dislodged protective steel plates fixed 80 feet below the riverbed, leading to gas emission from the site. Local residents immediately informed the gas administration, but officials had not yet arrived at the scene.
